Interim

This series of work, titled Stargazing, was created for assesment on the Interim Presentaion. For this work, I became interested in reworking tradition artworks. I created 6 digital collage pieces, slicing together photography and film stills with images of classical paintings. I was interested in giving the classical artworks a new contex within the digital age of art.

My work also speaks to themes of identity and the male gaze, (as coined by Laura Mulvey) exposing its presence across different decades and mediums of art.

Artists such as John Stezaker, Lola Dupre, and Hannah Höch informed this series of work. Their works serve to give an art-historical context to my work.

Artist Placement

These untitled works are the result of my artist placement within Mechanical Engineering at the University of Brighton. It consists of 3 photo collages and two digital paintings. This series of work represents my transition into digital art.

During the placement, I shadowed the Mechanical Engineering department's technician. I built a friendship with the technician and the students and wanted to involve them my artwork. I wanted to rework traditional paintings, which I draw inspiration from, using images of the students.

While at my placement, music often played which filled the entire room. I often would make digital paintings, recording my synesthetic experience in response to the music. Two of these paintings are shown at the left.
